How to Distinguish "National Standard" and "Non-standard" of Wire and Cable?

People who have been exposed to wires and cables more or less know  that there are national standard lines and non-standard lines in the wire and cable industry. There are many cases of fire caused by use of non-standard wire. It is not only a problem in the wire and cable industry, but also a problem closely related to people's life and property. How should we distinguish it?

Non standard wires and cables are generally shown in the following four aspects: the insulation layer performance is poor. The core material is unqualified. The cross-sectional area is not enough, and the length is not up to standard. This paper compares the national standard wire and cable of CTT CABLE with that of non-standard wire and cable. Help you to understand the difference between national standard and non-standard.

How to distinguish "national standard" and "non-standard" of wire and cable?

Look: to see whether there is a standard quality system certification. See if there is factory name, address, inspection seal and production date. Check whether the wire is printed with trademark, specification, voltage, etc. We should also look at the cross-section of the wire copper core. Superior grade copper color is bright and soft. Otherwise it is inferior.

Try: take a wire head and bend it repeatedly by hand. Those with soft handle, good anti fatigue strength, plastic or rubber handle elasticity and no crack on the wire insulator are excellent products.

Weighing: good quality wires are generally within the specified weight range. For example, the commonly used plastic insulated single strand copper core wire with a cross-sectional area of 1.5 square meters weighs 1.8-1.9 kg per 100 meters, and 2.5 square meters of plastic insulated single strand copper core wire, the weight of each 100m is 3-3.1kg, 4 square meters of plastic insulated single stranded copper core wire, with the weight of 4.4-4.6kg per 100m, etc. Poor wire quality weight or length is not enough. or the wire copper core impurities are too much.

Compare prices: due to the low production cost of fake and inferior wires, the peddlers often sell at low prices under the guise of low price and high quality. The price of non-standard cable products is more than 20% lower than the normal market price.

Look at the conductor: qualified copper core wire should be purplish red, glossy and soft handle. But the fake and inferior copper core wire is purple black, yellow or white with many impurities, poor toughness, and mechanical strength. A little force will break it. When checking, strip a piece of wire from one end, then rub a piece of white paper on the copper core. If there is black substance on the white paper, it means that there are more impurities in the copper core, which can be identified as non-standard wire and cable.

Quality inspection: In case of difference in cable quality, it can be sent to a third-party testing agency for testing. The final result is based on whether the authoritative test report is qualified or not.

There is also a kind of non-standard cable. It has quality problems and constitutes infringement. We must put an end to it. Choosing national standard cable is not only responsible for ourselves and consumers, but also the guarantee of personal safety.
