Do You Know the Classification of Flame Retardant Cables?

Nowadays, with the development of society and the improvement of technology, flame retardant cable has become the standard configuration in cable application projects, and the requirements for flame retardant performance are even higher in some occasions. Today, let's get to know the classification of flame retardant cable.

 

 

 

 

Flame retardant cable: It refers to a kind of cable that can stop and delay the spread and extension of flame along the wire and cable line in case of fire accident, so as to minimize the fire range. It has the characteristics of self extinguishing after ignition. Generally speaking, in case of fire in the electric wire, it can limit the combustion spreading within the local range, protect other various equipment and avoid causing greater losses.

 

In the wire and cable industry, flame retardant cables are represented by the symbol - ZR. According to GB/T18380-2008 standard, flame retardant cables are divided into three levels: A, B and C.  ZA represents A-level flame retardant. ZB represents B-level flame-retardant. ZR is defaulted to be Class-C flame-retardant, and the flame-retardant characteristics are ZA > ZB > ZC. The WDZA-GYJS (F) is A-class flame retardant.

 

 

A: It refers to that the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the nonmetallic material contained in the test is 7L/m in the total volume, and the fire supply time is 40 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, dry the sample, and the maximum carbonization range of the sample measured shall not be 2.5m higher than the bottom of the blowtorch.

 

B: It refers to that the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the nonmetallic material contained in the test is 3.5L/m in the total volume,and the fire supply time is 40 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, dry the sample, and the maximum carbonization range of the sample measured shall not be 2.5m higher than the bottom of the blowtorch.

 

C: It refers to that the cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the nonmetallic material contained in the test is 1.5L/m in the total volume, and the fire supply time is 20 minutes. After the cable combustion stops, dry the sample, and the maximum carbonization range of the sample measured shall not be 2.5m higher than the bottom of the blowtorch.
