The proportion of optical fiber broadband users nationwide reached 91%, ranking first in the world.
As of the end of March this year, the proportion of fiber broadband users nationwide reached 91%, and the proportion of 4G users reached 75%, ranking among the world's advanced. In addition, at a regular briefing on State Council policies held by the Information Office of the State Council on the 21st, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Chen Zhaoxiong gave us a more detailed introduction on the speed-up and cost-reduction of the Internet.
In recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in conjunction with the SASAC and other relevant departments, has organized three basic telecommunications companies and China Tower Company to make solid progress in all aspects of network speed-up and fee reduction. First of all, it is necessary to continuously strengthen infrastructure construction.
It is reported that basic telecom enterprises have invested more than 1.5 trillion yuan in the past four years to further promote the construction of optical fiber broadband networks and 4G networks. At the same time, five batches of telecom universal service pilots have been organized. The central government and basic telecom enterprises have invested more than 50 billion yuan to support 130,000 administrative villages to connect optical fibers and 36,000 4G base stations.
As of the end of March this year, the average download rate of fixed broadband users in China has increased from 4.2M to 28M at the end of 2014, while the download rate of mobile broadband has increased to 22M from less than 3M in the 3G era.
Secondly, it is to continue to dig deep into the potential of reducing fees and completely abolish domestic long-distance and roaming fees for mobile phones. The "roaming" fee for domestic mobile phone traffic has been abolished and the IDD tariff has been greatly reduced. Last year, the average monthly fixed network charge was 0.3 yuan, down 95% from 2014, while the average mobile Internet traffic per g was 8.5 yuan, down 94% from 2014.
Furthermore, it is to continuously optimize the market environment. Through the full implementation of the reform requirements of "deregulation", we will promote the co-construction and sharing of communication facilities and the opening of the telecommunications market, strengthen the rectification work, standardize the market competition order, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of users, reduce the burden on small and medium-sized enterprises, and stimulate market vitality.
According to Chen Zhaoxiong's introduction, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will further step up its work in the next stage, carry out the network speed-up and fee reduction work solidly, and make new and greater contributions to high-quality economic development, improvement of people's livelihood, environmental optimization and social progress.
In fact, after the "two sessions" this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with the SASAC, worked out a special action plan for 2019 network speed-up and fee reduction. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Finance also organized the implementation of a new round of telecom universal service pilots, and deployed IPv6 special actions at the same time. In addition, it has organized basic telecommunications enterprises to speed up the work of transferring numbers to networks, and in conjunction with the Health and Health Commission, the Ministry of Education and other departments, it has comprehensively strengthened the application of medical and health services, education and other key industries.
