On July 26, the China Electricity Council announced in Beijing the first half of the 2019 national electricity supply and demand situation analysis and forecast report. According to the prediction of China Electricity Council, China's power consumption will continue to grow steadily in the first half of 2019. The whole society's electricity consumption will increase by about 5.5% year-on-year; the overall balance of power supply and demand in the country will peak during the summer period. Supply and demand are tight, and there is a power gap during peak hours.
According to Yu Chongde, the full-time vice chairman and secretary-general of China Electricity Council, in the first half of this year, the country’s power supply and demand were generally balanced, and some areas saw faults. In the first half of the year, the national total electricity consumption reached 3.40 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%, and the first and second quarters increased by 5.5% and 4.5% respectively. Among the steady growth of electricity consumption, the tertiary industry and urban and rural residents' electricity consumption has increased rapidly. Among them, the continuous promotion of electric energy substitution has given birth to a new bright spot in the growth of electricity consumption in the tertiary industry.
In terms of power supply, the trend of green low-carbon development continues, and non-fossil energy generation generates rapid growth. The data shows that in the first half of the year, the hydropower generation capacity of power plants above designated size was 513.8 billion kWh, up 11.8% year-on-year; nuclear power generation was 160 billion kWh, up 23.1% year-on-year; full-caliber grid-connected wind power and grid-connected solar power generation were 2145 respectively. , 106.3 billion kWh, an increase of 11.5% and 29.1% respectively. Affected by the slowdown in demand for electricity and the rapid growth of non-fossil energy generation such as hydropower, the power generation of thermal power plants above designated size in the first half of the year was 2.45 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of only 0.2%.
Based on the analysis of the actual supply and demand of electricity in the first half of the year, the report comprehensively considers the domestic and international macroeconomic situation, electric energy substitution, the base of the previous year, environmental safety inspection and other factors. It is expected that power consumption will continue to grow steadily in the first half of the year in the second half of the year, 2019 The national total electricity consumption will increase by about 5.5% year-on-year. If the temperature in most parts of the country is lower than the same period in 2018, the actual growth rate of electricity consumption in the whole year may be lower than the predicted value.
In addition, the report also predicts that the national installed capacity of power generation will reach 2 billion kilowatts by the end of the year, and the proportion of non-fossil energy installed capacity will increase to 42%, exceeding the planned target of 39% in 2020.
